L’arte, i luoghi e la storia
Può capitare, passeggiando per le strade di Capri, di imbattersi in panorami di ineguagliabile fascino o in architetture di rara eleganza. E ancora, tra natura antropizzata e selvaggia si possono scorgere scorci suggestivi che da tutto il mondo si vengono ad ammirare. Insomma, camminare per le strade di Capri significa godere di ogni forma di bellezza. Paesaggistica, architettonica e, da settembre a dicembre, anche artistica. Sì perché l’isola azzurra farà da scenario, è al progetto Capri the Island of Art, una mostra “diffusa” tra le strade dell’isola organizzata dall’associazione culturale omonima.

In mostra tanti artisti le cui opere avranno il compito di presentare l’attuale panorama artistico italiano e internazionale e che utilizzeranno alcuni tra i più bei luoghi di Capri per mostrare i diversi linguaggi, dalla pittura alla scultura, passando per la fotografia, i video, performance e istallazioni realizzate ad hoc.
La manifestazione è nata daun’idea di Franco Senesi, caprese doc e una passione per l’arte da sempre, ed è giunta quest’anno alla quarta edizione che si pregia di un supervisor di eccellenza, Christine Macel che dal 2000 è la curatrice capo del Musée National d’Art Moderne – Centre Pompidou e direttrice della Biennale d’Arte ora in corso a Venezia. Ad affiancarla, come Resident Curator sarà Marco Izzolino, che nelle passate edizioni ne è stato il direttore artistico.

La rassegna open air invita gli artisti a dialogare con i luoghi e la storia dell’isola affinché vi sia tra l’isola stessa e le opere un rapporto di reciproca influenza creativa. Nel gioco di scambio non poteva mancare Napoli con le ricchezze dei suoi musei di arte contemporanea e da sempre legata a Capri, e ancor più in questo progetto, da un ponte ideale tra il mare, la terra e il sottosuolo.

because the island will be the setting for the project “Capri the Island of Art”, an exhibition “scattered” in different places around the island, organized by the cultural association of the same name. On display will be works by many artists with the task of presenting the current artistic panorama in Italy and abroad, using some of the most beautiful places on Capri to display the different languages of art, ranging from painting to sculpture, through photography, videos, performance art and specially designed installations.
The idea for the event came from Franco Senesi, a Capri native who has always had a passion for art, and it is now in its fourth edition, honoured this year by the services of an expert supervisor, Christine Macel, who has been chief curator at the Musée National d’Art Moderne in the Pompidou centre since 2000 and is director of this year’s Venice Art Biennale. Assisting her as Resident Curator will be Marco Izzolino, who was artistic director of the previous exhibitions.
The open air exhibition invites artists to conduct a dialogue with the places and the history of the island, so that there will be a relationship of reciprocal creative influence between the island and the works of art. Naples could not fail to play a part in this interaction, with all the treasures of its contemporary art museums and its eternal link to Capri, which will be made even stronger in this project by a bridge of ideas linking the sea, the land and the city below ground.
