Camminare nella bellezza

È apparsa all’improvviso destando lo stupore di capresi e turisti che, una mattina, si sono imbattuti in un’opera monumentale alta oltre due metri raffigurante una donna nuda, raccolta sulle ginocchia, intenta in una danza tribale all’ombra del campanile della Piazzetta. Si chiama Walking in Beauty l’affascinante scultura in bronzo realizzata dal duo spagnolo Coderch&Malavia che attira magneticamente turisti e passanti che non perdono l’occasione di immortalarla mentre, come fosse viva, imperturbata li guarda fiera. “Camminare nella bellezza” vuole significare l’essere in armonia con il mondo circostante esplorando la natura selvaggia interiore, vivere in modo autentico, seguendo i dettami dello spirito.
Infatti, Walking in Beauty traduce un pensiero della popolazione nativa americana, i Navajo, che rimanda ad un percorso spirituale di celebrazione della vita.
L’installazione è opera della Liquid Art System – il circuito di gallerie di Franco Senesi con sedi a Capri, Positano, Ravello e Miami – che da anni porta avanti progetti espositivi en plein air nei luoghi simbolo dell’isola incoraggiando forme di condivisione e di sensibilizzazione sull’arte contemporanea.

Walking in beauty

It appeared all of a sudden, arousing astonishment in Capri inhabitants and tourists alike, as one morning they came across a monumental work two metres high, in the shadow of the bell tower in the Piazzetta: it depicts a nude woman, crouching, focused on a tribal dance. This fascinating bronze sculpture called Walking in Beauty was created by the Spanish duo Coderch&Malavia, and is a magnet for tourists and passersby who never miss the opportunity to take a photo of her, while she looks at them with a proud gaze, unperturbed, as though she were alive.
“Walking in beauty” means being in harmony with the surrounding world, exploring the wild interior nature, living authentically, following the dictates of the spirit. In fact, Walking in Beauty expresses an idea of the native American Navajo people that refers to a spiritual path in celebration of life.
The installation was arranged by Liquid Art System – the art gallery circuit owned by Franco Senesi with galleries in Capri, Positano, Ravello and Miami. For many years this organization has developed open air exhibition projects in the symbolic places on the island, encouraging ways of sharing and developing awareness of contemporary art.
