The pair are operating in unknown territory: Rossella knows that Arcos is the only person who will believe her and help her in her investigations, and together they clash with the forces of order and journalists who don’t want to see what they have discovered. They are a pair of off-the-cuff investigators but with an unrivalled instinct, and together they support and complement each other until they discover new truths on the islands hidden behind the stereotypes, and they also discover themselves to be different people.The story that del Giudice tells does not follow the traditional canons of detective stories but breaks the mould, ending up in a court room, and thus touching on other literary genres that help to give an unusual and original aspect to the whole story.

Il commissario Veneruso, personaggio rozzo, depresso e irascibile, ma in fondo buono, nato dalla penna di Diego Lama torna con una nuova avventura piena di colpi di scena.
Si avvicina l’estate del 1884 e insieme all’agente Serra s’imbarca per Capri, il suo compito è quello di prelevare un brigante. Già dalla traversata il carattere scorbutico di Veneruso diventa protagonista della storia e si intreccia con le vicende narrative che muovono gli altri personaggi. Saranno proprio questi personaggi a popolare i suoi sogni e i suoi pensieri durante il soggiorno sull’isola. Un soggiorno che diviene ad un certo punto forzato e costringerà il commissario a fare i conti con uno spietato assassino. L’impossibilità di tornare sulla terraferma a causa del maltempo, infatti, rende tutti gli abitanti e i presenti dei sospettati. Riuscirà il commissario Veneruso a trovare il colpevole?
Le suggestive ambientazioni descrivono una Capri in piena Belle Époque e aiutano la costruzione narrativa nello svolgimento della trama. C’è anche qualche cameo di personaggi storici realmente esistiti, anche se non sempre posizionato correttamente lungo la linea del tempo.

Inspector Veneruso, the rough and ready, depressed, irascible but basically good-hearted character created by author Diego Lama, is back in a new adventure full of dramatic twists and turns.
It is 1884, approaching summer, and Veneruso sets off for Capri together with Officer Serra, tasked with arresting a bandit. Already from the boat crossing, Veneruso’s cantankerous personality takes centre stage in the story and becomes intertwined with the narrative events influencing the other characters. In fact, it is these characters who inhabit his dreams and his thoughts during his stay on the island. It is a stay that at a certain point becomes an enforced stay, and the inspector has to cross swords with a ruthless murderer. The impossibility of returning to the mainland due to the bad weather makes all the inhabitants and those present on Capri become suspects. Will Inspector Veneruso succeed in finding the guilty person?
The beautiful settings describe a Capri in the middle of the Belle Époque period, helping with the narrative construction as the plot unfolds. There are also some cameos of genuine historical figures, though not always in the right position on the timeline.
