Due amici inseparabili

Tutto è nato con qualche foto presa al volo, postata su un social e poi rimbalzata sulle pagine napoletane de la Repubblica. Alla fine, per raccontare la sua piccola grande storia è sbarcata sull’isola anche la troupe de La vita in diretta.
La storia è quella di Antonio, 62 anni, anacaprese doc, fabbro con una grande passione per gli animali. La sua casa di Anacapri è una piccola fattoria. Ci sono un pony nero che vive in simbiosi con un maialino e poi piccioni, galline, galli, cani, tartarughe e qualche gatto di passaggio.
E un amico inseparabile, il colombo bianco Koulibaly. Per quei pochi che forse non lo sanno, il nome è preso a prestito da quello del difensore senegalese del Napoli di cui Antonio è da sempre un appassionato tifoso. Dovunque Antonio vada Koulibaly è con lui.
La storia è iniziata quando, andato per un lavoro fuori dalla sua bottega e terminato il lavoro Antonio vide l’uccello in gabbia e l’istinto più naturale fu quello di poterlo liberare. Domandò così se lo poteva avere in cambio del suo operato, pensando di dargli la libertà, ma il colombo scelse di restare con lui e la sua barba candida. E da allora sono diventati inseparabili. «Solo la notte non sta con me – racconta sorridendo – perché mia moglie non lo permette».

Two inseparable friends

Everything began with a few photos taken in a hurry and posted on a social network: they then spread to the local Neapolitan news pages of la Repubblica newspaper. It ended up with the team from the infotainment TV programme La vita in diretta coming to Capri to tell this great little story.
It’s the story of Antonio, 62, a blacksmith from Anacapri with a great love of animals. His house on Anacapri is a real little farm. There’s a black pony who lives alongside a pig, there are pigeons, chickens, cockerels, dogs, tortoises and some passing cats.
And one inseparable friend, the white dove Koulibaly. For the few people who may not know, the name has been borrowed from the Senegalese defender in the Napoli football team, of whom Antonio has always been an ardent fan. Everywhere Antonio goes, Koulibaly goes with him.
The story began when Antonio went to do a job away from his workshop; when he had finished, he saw the bird in a cage and his natural instinct was to want to free it. So he asked if he could have the bird in lieu of payment for his work, thinking that he would then release it, but the dove chose to stay with his white-bearded friend. And since then they have become inseparable. “The only time he isn’t with me is at night,” he says with a smile, “because my wife won’t allow it.”
