La luce blu. Il mito. Forse scontato, ma è il simbolo stesso dell’isola. Il suo “cuore azzurro” al cui fascino non si scappa. E in questa foto di Costantino Esposito sembra proprio di starci dentro. L’immagine è una delle tre vincitrici, ex aequo, del contest fotografico “Genius Loci” che si è svolto su “Capri isola magica” il Gruppo Facebook della rivista Capri review. | THE GROTTA. And in this photo by Costantino Esposito, it seems to come from deep within. The photo is one of the three joint winners of the photography competition “Genius Loci”, organized by “Capri isola magica”, the Facebook Group for Capri Review magazine.

TRASPARENZE MARINE

Rimanda subito alla suggestione della Grotta Azzurra “Shining #3”, l’opera firmata dall’artista napoletano Antonio Sannino. La trasparenza dell’acqua è efficacemente resa dall’utilizzo dell’alluminio spazzolato, a cui sono sovrapposte macchie di colore poi ricoperte da uno strato di resina che vetrifica l’immagine illuminandola. Un procedimento che crea un effetto di luce che segue lo sguardo dello spettatore. | MARINE TRANSPARENCIES. “Shining #3”, the work by Neapolitan artist Antonio Sannino, immediately calls to mind the beauty of the Grotta Azzurra. The transparency of the water is successfully rendered through the use of brushed aluminium, overlaid with splashes of colour and then covered with a layer of resin that vitrifies the image, illuminating it. The process creates an effect of light that follows the spectator’s gaze.

LA PIAZZA DI LABOCCETTA

Il cuore di Capri si tinge di mille sfumature d’azzurro nell’interpretazione che ne fa Mario Laboccetta nel dipinto “Il domatore d’oggetti” datato 1969 e conservato presso il Centro Caprense Ignazio Cerio di cui Laboccetta fu socio fondatore. Nato a Napoli nel 1899, divenne famoso a Parigi dove fu attivo per quasi due decenni durante gli anni Venti e Trenta. Rientrato in Italia, prima a Milano dove lavorò sempre come illustratore e probabilmente per il teatro, approdò poi a Capri dove morirà nel 1988. Di suo è possibile ammirare il grande pannello nella sala d’attesa della Funicolare dedicato all’allegoria della storia caprese. | LABOCCETTA’S PIAZZA. The heart of Capri is tinged with a thousand shades of blue in Mario Laboccetta’s interpretation of it in the painting “Il domatore d’oggetti” (“The tamer of objects”), dated 1969 and preserved in the Centro Caprense Ignazio Cerio of which Laboccetta was a founder member. Born in Naples in 1899, he became famous in Paris, where he worked for almost two decades during the 1920s and ’30s. On his return to Italy, he went first to Milan, where he continued to work as an illustrator and probably for the theatre, and then came to Capri, where he died in 1988. One of his works can be seen in the waiting room of the Funicolare: the large panel depicting an allegory of the history of Capri.

Eclettica, cosmopolita, appassionatamente dedita alla pittura e fatalmente attratta dalla moda ha lasciato numerosi disegni e dipinti magnifici come questa “Piazzetta Azzurra”. Fa parte di una collezione privata ma vale la pena andarla ad ammirare. | ALL LAETITIA’S SHADES OF COLOUR. How many shades of blue does it take to sketch “the” piazza? At least ten, according to Laetitia Cerio’s creative impulse. Eclectic, cosmopolitan, keenly devoted to painting and fatally attracted to fashion, she has left numerous magnificent drawings and paintings such as this one, the “Piazzetta Azzurra” (the Blue Piazza). It is part of a private collection, but it’s worth going along to admire it.

Non poteva che essere azzurra la porta di entrata a quello scrigno di tesori che è la Biblioteca Caprense. Fondata nel 1960 da Edwin Cerio per volontà testamentaria, conserva un patrimonio di circa 6.000 volumi, oltre 4.000 manoscritti e diverse collezioni iconografiche e fotografiche. Il suo nucleo fondante è costituito dal patrimonio bibliografico e documentario prodotto e raccolto dai componenti della famiglia Cerio al quale si sono aggiunti altri fondi pervenuti per donazione. | THE LIBRARY. The door leading into the treasure chest that is the Biblioteca Caprense couldn’t be anything else but blue. Founded in 1960 under Edwin Cerio’s will and testament, it preserves a heritage of about 6,000 books, over 4,000 manuscripts and various iconographic and photographic collections. The nucleus of the collection is the heritage of books and documents produced and collected by members of the Cerio family, with the addition of other collections that have been donated.
